Suggestions for “free time” in Columbia, MO (Summer)

• Rent a bike and go on one of the many trails Columbia has to offer.
• Check out downtown during the
Twilight Festival every Thursday night in June.
• Get a group together and go down to Lake of the Ozarks

There are a lot of things to do in Columbia. There are so many great restaurants in walking distance! Some are Shakespeares and Addisons. Downtown also has many great shops, and a fun movie theater showing independent films (Rag Tag). During nice summer days though, I definately reccomend going to Rock Bridge State Park and Devils Icebox.

• The movies: Forum 8 and Hollywood 14 in addition to Rag Tag (I’m available for movie reviews!
• Any coffee shop in town sitting outside (Starbucks is close to campus on 9th street, The Artisan and CC’s Coffee House on Forum Blvd. are all good!)
• Biking, and running outside or the rec center – they have a great lap pool
• Kansas City and St. Louis aren’t far if you want to visit someplace new (if you go to KC you MUST go to Gate’s Bar-b-q!!

  1. I went to Forum 8 Theatre this weekend and found out that they have a large, plastic popcorn bucket for $10 that can be refilled on an UNLIMITED basis from now until December 2007 AND next year from July-Dec 2008. You can refill it up to two times per visit but it is HUGE. Same size as a large but plastic so you can wash out and bring it back. If you go to the movies often it is an awesome deal- free popcorn for like a year!!!
